Williamsburg

Home to the famous Colonial Williamsburg, this city brings history to life. Guests to the renowned American History theme park can enjoy life as it was in the 1800s by taking guided tours and visiting taverns, shops, inns and other re-creations of historic buildings. Along with Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown round out what is known as the Historic Triangle. The area offers guests a large array of bed and breakfasts, restaurants and shops such as the Williamsburg Pottery Factory, reportedly the most visited site in all of Virginia. Visitors have many opportunities to learn about the history of their country as they can choose from a wealth of museums and historic sites like the Watermen’s Museum, Berkeley Plantation and Carter’s Grove Plantation. Williamsburg is also home to the College of William and Mary, the second oldest educational institution in the country. This reputable college is known for its founding of Phi Beta Kappa in 1776 as well as for its high academic standards.
